About Fuller Collection
Professor John Fuller of Oxford University has provided the Institute with his collection of over 530 books on wine, distilling, brewing, viticulture and technological aspects of wine production, spirits and other drinks. Many of the books date back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The oldest was published in 1733. Prized gems include Sir Edward Barry's 'Wines of the Ancients (1775); 'Liquor Acts of 1736 from the Reign of George III' (1738); an 1899 guide for retail liquor dealers in America, a book of poems from 1762 as well as an 1839 book on the philosophy of "artificial and compulsory drinking usage in Great Britain and Ireland". The collection is one of England's finest collections of rare wine books.
